žena = woman

Assalamualaikum and dobry den!

So, on one morning, we have a pathophysiology lecture at the faculty. When Prof Miroslav Kuba came in, with his usual morning greeting, he asked us:

Prof Kuba: Do you guys know what day is today?

I was like...errr..isn't today is Tuesday? (But of course, I'm still in my early morning "dormant" mood, so I'm too lazy to blurt out any word)
Most of the class answered something. But it's kinda buzzing, so he could not really catch the words. (But I was quite sure that I did not hear any "Tuesday" word. lol)

Prof Kuba: Well, I know of course today is Tuesday. (Erk, he read my mind!) But do you know is there any special day going on today?

Most of my friends: It's Women's day!

Really? I really didn't know about it. So I was really impressed with how my friends knew about it and so do Prof Kuba (hehehe). Prof Kuba told us that the Women's day is being celebrated every year since the Soviet times in Czech, and in Europe mostly. The Women's day was originally celebrated as to appreciate the role of women more in the society. The women were allowed to work, instead of just being housewife taking care of the kids and doing house chores as they did during the early days.

And that happened during the Soviet regime in Czech Republic (former: Czechoslovakia).

Talking about women's freedom, it does remind me of some of the discussions that I've heard before. As the Soviets appreciating the women by giving them a chance to work, Islam has done more than that.

Whoever thinks that Islam limits your freedom. Think again.

There's never an ayat from Allah in the Holy Quran forbids women from going to work.

What Allah states in the Quran, which we can read in Surah An-Nur, Surah An-Nisa', women were told to protect their honours which is by covering themselves.

Why should we exposed everything that we have, to some random strangers?

Have you heard about the pearl analogy?

The most beautiful, expensive shiny pearl..where will you find it?

It's deep into the sea, enclosed in the shell, only the most trained divers can dive in to get it.

Compared to cheap pearls which are scattered, and can be easily collected.

Which one are you?

Choose.

Do you know that most of the Prophets' companion, seek knowledge from 'Aisyah R.A after the prophet's death?

And she was one of the people who convey most of Hadith of the prophet to others.

And she was still one of the women who cover themselves most.

Have you read the verses in the Quran which there are many says about the women's privileges? How husbands should treat their wives with full of love and respects?

Have you came across an ayat which Allah states that the mothers should be respected the most after Him and Rasulullah?

Have you learnt in the Quran which Allah had forbids the men in the war from harming the women and children?

Oh, and did you know there's even a surah named after women? Which is An-Nisa'?

I remembered about a very interesting video that I came across a few days ago. It is about hijab. Hijab as you can see, is what we are wearing to cover our hair until the bosoms, and wearing something modest which is loose and not revealing any parts of our body.

If you ask me, what is my opinion on hijab, I would say that it is the greatest gift from Him to me, to us all the muslim women. I would not talk more. This video said it all.

"...O People, it is true that you have certain rights with regard to your women, but they also have rights over you. Remember that you have taken them as your wives only under Allah's trust and with His permission. If they abide by your right then to them belongs the right to be fed and clothed in kindness. Do treat your women well and be kind to them for they are your partners and committed helpers. And it is your right that they do not make friends with any one of whom you do not approve, as well as never to be unchaste..."
(Rasulullah's last sermon  on the Ninth Day of Dhul Hijjah 10 A.H. in the 'Uranah valley of Mount Arafat' (in Mecca).

There are so many things that I can say. But I guess that's for now. Till then, Assalamualaikum and Na Shle!
